Terms & Conditions
Last updated 26 July 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Ahmed El-Bourgy (“BookBeans”, “we”, “us”) covering your use of the BookBeans website and app. By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.
Your account
You’re responsible for keeping your login details safe and for activity under your account. Give accurate information when you sign up, and let us know if you believe your account has been compromised. You must be old enough to form a binding agreement where you live.
Your content is yours
You own everything you write. BookBeans claims no ownership of your manuscripts, characters, notes, or any other work you create. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store, display, back up, and process your content so the app can function for you and for anyone you choose to share a project with.
Acceptable use
You agree not to use BookBeans to:
- break the law or infringe someone else’s rights, including copyright;
- upload malware, or attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorised access to the service;
- store or share content you have no right to; or
- abuse other users, including through sharing or messaging features.
Availability
We work to keep BookBeans running and your work safe, but the service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. There may be downtime for maintenance, updates, or reasons outside our control. Keep your own copies of anything important — exporting is one click, and we recommend using it regularly.
Third-party services
Some features connect to outside services — for example, linking a Spotify playlist or using AI-assisted tools. Your use of those features is also subject to the terms of the relevant provider, and we aren’t responsible for those third parties.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, BookBeans is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of data beyond what the export and backup features are designed to protect against. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Ending your use
You can stop using BookBeans and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access to an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms, and will act reasonably in doing so. You can export your work before you leave.
Changes
We may update these terms as the app develops. When we make a meaningful change, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.
